Scholarships for Buena High School Graduates

EFofSV has established a scholarship endowment fund to support the award of one or more annual scholarships to a deserving Buena High School graduate.

 

Donations are accepted for the scholarship endowment fund to increase the number and value of future scholarships.

 

Your donation in support of Student Scholarships is tax deductible but does NOT qualify for the Arizona State Tax Credit.

It is with great pride the Eduction Foundation introduces our three scholarship recipients for the academic year 2023-24: Jackson Creech - the Dr. Hal Thomas Career and Technical Education Scholarship, Katherine Flaherty and Sophia Rosa - the Education Foundation of Sierra Vista Scholarships.

​

Jackson's accomplishments include: Varsity Tennis, Interact Club, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, Criminal Justice Certification, CPR Certification, Crime Scene Management Certification, and participation in highway cleanups. His educational and career goals include graduating from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice and ultimately joining the Border Patrol or the Cochise County Sheriff's Department.

​

Katherine's accomplishments include: Co-Captain of the Varsity Swim Team and 2023 All-Academic First Team for Swim and Dive, audio-visual technician and theatre technician for the Klein Center of Performing Arts, participation in the Firebolt Youth Triathlon in 2023 and 2024 with a goal to defend her First Place Team Champion title in 2024, worked as a stablehand and instructor for Frisky Foals Acres Equestrian Training Center and volunteer stablehand at Horsen Around Rescue Ranch, Principal's Honor List, and member of the National Honor Society. Her educational and career goals include graduating from Montana State University with a degree in Pre-Medicine. Her interests lie in genetics and data analysis and how these will provide depth- of-knowledge in human physiology.

Sophia's accomplishments include: 2023-24 State of Arizona Governor's Youth Commission, chairperson-elect City of Sierra Vista Youth Commission Council, Cochise County Democratic Society Student Intern, attended the Arizona State University Cesar E. Chavez Leadership Institute, member of the national Society of High School Scholars, worked on local campaigns with the Democratic Women of Southeastern Arizona, attended Law and Crime Scene Investigation Seminar in Washington, D.C., member of the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps as a squad leader and attended two leadership and basic training programs, member of Peach's Pantry Youth Leadership Fund feeding hungry children in Cochise County, and a member of the Key Club. Her future educational and career goals include graduating from the Ira School of Engineering at Arizona State University where she will be studying Environmental Engineering and Sustainability.
